Adults Test

Hearing loss often develops gradually, with many adults not realizing it’s happening until it affects their daily life. Studies have shown untreated hearing loss can have an impact on quality of life, mental health, social connectedness and independence. Managing your hearing well can facilitate healthy aging and overall quality of life.

Common Signs of Hearing Loss in Adults

  • Asking “Can you say that again?” more often than you used to.
  • Struggling to follow conversations, especially in noisy places like restaurants or family gatherings.
  • Cranking up the volume on your TV or phone and still finding it hard to hear clearly.

The Testing Process

During an adult hearing test at Harmonic Hearing, we conduct a series of comprehensive assessments to evaluate your hearing health, including:

  • Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA): This test helps measure your ability to hear sounds at different pitches and volumes.
  • Middle ear function test: A test that checks how well the eardrum moves in response to changes in air pressure.
  • Speech Audiometry: This assesses your ability to understand speech at different sound levels.
  • Oto-Acoustic Emissions (OAE): This test evaluates how well your inner ear (cochlea) responds to sound, often used to detect early signs of hearing loss.

The entire process is non-invasive, taking about 30 to 45 minutes. The results will help us identify any hearing loss and recommend the most suitable next steps for your hearing care.
